Diane’s Community and Neighborhood Priorities
San Mateo has an amazing quality of life and sense of community, but we must keep it that way. As your City Council member, I will:
Protect 911, Police & Fire Programs.I will work to maintain police patrols, 9-1-1 response, crime and gang prevention programs, and fire protection at levels that continue to keep our San Mateo families safe.
Maintain After School Programs and Champion Educational Excellence. As a busy working professional and mother, I understand first-hand that quality education is a concern for us all. I’ll expand city-school partnerships and advocate for recreation and after-school programs so important to keeping our students focused and our youth away from gangs and drugs.
Fix Our Potholes and Aging Infrastructure.Did you know San Mateo has miles of deteriorating streets? Repairing our aging streets, sidewalks, sewers, and storm drains now -- before they become even more expensive to fix in the future—is one of my top priorities.
Protect Our Neighborhood and Community Character.Responsible growth strikes a balance between three goals: a vibrant economy, a healthy environment, and a socially equitable community. Any proposed future development must respect the character and identity of our neighborhoods while not burdening our community services, schools, traffic and infrastructure.
As your Council Member, I pledge to be transparent and inclusive in engaging our residents and neighborhoods in significant decisions, projects and policies facing our City.
