Diane’s Community and Neighborhood Priorities
San Mateo has an amazing quality of life and sense of community, but we must keep it that way. As your City Council member, I will:
-
Protect 911, Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Health Programs.
Issues like COVID and California suburban fires mean no community is immune from catastrophic or health dangers. I’ll continue to protect local 911 response and disaster preparedness, to keep our San Mateo families safe. -
Reduce Traffic.
When not in COVID sheltering mode, our local and regional traffic gridlock erodes our quality of life and affects the ability of Fire Responders to reach emergencies quickly. My support of new housing near transit and implementing grade separations at our local rail crossings provides traffic relief. -
Address Affordable Housing & Homelessness.
San Mateo is a special place! Future generations should be able to live here if they choose. I supported expanding housing affordable to working families at City-owned sites. We must compassionately serve those in need, while ensuring our business districts, parks and public areas are safe and secure for everyone. -
Protect San Mateo’s Welcoming Spirit and Neighborhood Character.
I’ve said responsible growth must achieve a vibrant local economy, a healthy environment, and a socially equitable and diverse community. Any policies or projects must embrace diversity, affordability, and neighborhood character.
As your Councilmember, I pledge to continue to Work for You – by functioning transparently and being inclusive in engaging all residents in significant decisions, projects and policies facing our City.
